We welcome our new Technical Manager Fire Safety
As of 5 January, Dieter van Riel has joined vb&t Brandveiligheid as Technical Manager Fire Safety / Senior Fire Safety Advisor. With his arrival, we continue on our chosen path: further strengthening our substantive quality, seniority, and strategic impact within the consulting practice.
Dieter brings over twenty years of experience in the field of fire safety. He began his career in 2004 at Adviesbureau Van Dijke. In the years that followed, his role grew with the organisation, from consultant to team leader and eventually technical manager consultancy. In this last role, he was not only involved in complex fire safety issues in terms of content, but also responsible for the management, quality and further development of the consultancy team.
Within vb&t Fire Safety, Dieter focuses on a combination of content, strategy, and project management. He actively contributes to discussions on strategic issues and the organisation's future vision, the development of action plans and proposals, and guiding and executing client projects. Additionally, he acts as a sounding board for the team on content matters, aiming to structurally safeguard the quality and consistency of our advice.
The collaboration with Dieter has a longer history. Director Chris Vugts got to know him at the beginning of his own career at the Van Dijke Consultancy Firm. This shared background and substantive way of working form a solid foundation for the collaboration within vb&t Brandveiligheid.
With Dieter's arrival, we are strengthening our seniority and ensuring continuity in knowledge, approach, and vision. We look forward to working with him and are convinced that he will make a significant contribution to the further growth and professionalisation of vb&t Safety Specialists.
Dieter van Riel

“From my Building Studies education and over twenty years of work experience, I have built up broad and in-depth knowledge in advising and guiding fire safety issues within diverse buildings, projects, and organisations. I am keen to use that experience, in close collaboration with Chris, to contribute to the further professionalisation and development of vb&t Brandveiligheid.
For me, this role means more than just providing substantive expertise. In addition to continuing to invest in quality and professional depth, I see it as an important task to think strategically about the future of the company. This involves: looking ahead together, further refining the vision, and establishing vb&t Brandveiligheid's positioning clearly and strongly, in line with our ambitions and the market in which we operate.
With my experience in team development and quality management, I enjoy bringing structure, focus, and consistency, without losing touch with everyday practice. I strongly believe in combining clear frameworks with room for professional responsibility. This way, we as a team can not only deliver good work, but also continue to challenge and improve ourselves.
I look forward to building on a solid and future-proof foundation for vb&t Brandveiligheid together: with clear choices, strong and reliable advice, and a way of working that aligns with our clients and with who we want to be as an organisation.”
